The Ultimate Luxury: Health

A beautiful handbag, a remarkable piece of art, or a magnificent villa is a luxury. But health is also a valuable luxury. Feeling fit and vital — that is what makes everything possible. Forbes.health embodies this form of luxury: health as bespoke, exclusive, and personal.

We spoke with Dr. Fiona Forbes, co-founder and Medical Director of Forbes.health, internationally recognized for her innovative vision on personalized medicine. Together with Margot de Ruiter-Longayroux, who is professionally active in the world of luxury living, we discussed the true meaning of health and the impact it can have.

“Health is not a mass product. It is couture, made for one person.”
— Dr. Fiona Forbes

C: Dr. Forbes, how does Forbes.health translate rarity and precision into medicine?

F: We go deeper than conventional healthcare ever does. Every client begins with an extensive analysis of more than 400 biomarkers, giving us an extremely precise picture of the entire body. We do not fight symptoms; we address the root cause. This allows us to design programs that are truly individual, deliver fast results, and are completely tailored. It is medicine in the same way couture fashion is — designed for only one person.

C: Margot, what brought you to Forbes.health?

M: I had been feeling tired and listless for almost two years. I had constant joint pain and multiple inflammations in my body, along with unexplained weight gain. When I started at Forbes.health in September 2024, my goal was actually modest: I wanted to regain just 70 percent of my former energy.

C: And what did you discover during the process?

M: It was a revelation. Forbes.health mapped my entire system and showed that every symptom has a cause. Once those causes were addressed, everything began to change. Within three weeks I slept better. Within two months I had lost 14 kilos — eventually even 30. But more important than the weight: my joint pain and digestive issues gradually disappeared, my energy returned, and I finally regained control over my body.

C: Dr. Forbes, what makes this approach so different from traditional healthcare?

F: Two things are important. First, depth. With more than 400 biomarkers, we can see what others often miss, such as low-grade inflammation, hidden imbalances, and early warning signs of problems. Second, continuity. This is not a one-time intervention, but a trajectory in which every client receives ongoing guidance and coaching, often via online consultations. We are always accessible, wherever someone may be. That continuous support ensures that insights do not remain in a file, but truly become part of daily life.

C: Margot, how important was that continuity for you?

M: Absolutely essential. It gave me confidence at every step. Thanks to the 24/7 online support, I never felt lost. It was not about chasing one result, but about sustainable change I could build on.

C: Some say health is mainly a matter of discipline and lifestyle. Where does Forbes.health fit into that picture?

F: Lifestyle is important, but without the right knowledge people are often working in the dark. We bring clarity. Through in-depth research, we make clear why symptoms exist. As a result, every lifestyle choice gains power and effectiveness because it is purposeful and personally substantiated.

C: Margot, what did that clarity mean for you?

M: It was crucial. Before, I felt like I was just trying things — diets, supplements, more rest — but nothing worked. When I understood the imbalances behind my complaints, I finally knew why I felt the way I did and how I could change it. That gave me a sense of control I had been missing for years.

C: What role does innovation play in your work?

F: A central one. Our approach is built on the foundations of science and functional medicine. We combine advanced diagnostics and continuous data analysis with the principles of functional medicine. This provides a strong scientific foundation and makes it possible to treat causes rather than symptoms. The real innovation lies not only in the technology, but in how we personalize it into a trajectory designed for one individual.

C: Margot, how would you summarize the impact of this journey?

M: If my energy level used to be a three or four out of ten, it now feels like an eight. I feel stronger, more resilient and — most importantly — I trust my body again. As if I have not only added years to my life, but life to my years.

C: Dr. Forbes, finally: if health is the new luxury, how do you define that?

F: Luxury is often associated with rarity and craftsmanship. In healthcare, true luxury means precision, prevention and personalization. It is not mass-produced; it is made for one person. That makes it rare — and sustainable.
